Privacy Policy
How we use and protect your information.
This notice covers our website enquiries and ICT equipment donation offers.
Who is responsible for your information?
LIFTUP SCHOOLS is responsible for personal information collected through liftupschools.org and our enquiries. We are an early-stage education-focused organisation planning support for schools in Ethiopia. For privacy questions or requests, email info@liftupschools.org or write to LIFTUP SCHOOLS, Bridge House, Boston Manor Road, Brentford, London, TW8 9LH, United Kingdom.
Information we collect
When you contact us, we receive your name, email address, enquiry type and message. For ICT equipment offers, we also receive the organisation and donor type, telephone number if supplied, country and city, equipment details and optional photo, equipment location, transport preferences, availability date, data-removal status and declarations. Information is supplied directly by you. Our website and hosting services may also process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details and security logs, to operate and protect the site.
How and why we use your information
We use your information to respond to enquiries, assess equipment offers, discuss partnerships or volunteering, agree practical arrangements and keep relevant correspondence. Required fields identify information needed to assess or respond to your request; optional fields can be left blank. We do not use an enquiry or equipment offer as permission to add you to a marketing mailing list.
Our lawful bases
We rely on legitimate interests to respond to requests, assess offers, manage relationships and protect our website. Those interests are administering our educational initiative and communicating with people who choose to contact us. We consider your rights and reasonable expectations when doing so. Where processing is necessary for an agreement with you, or steps you request before an agreement, we may rely on contract. We rely on legal obligation where information must be kept or disclosed by law. If we request consent for a separate optional purpose, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful use.
Who may receive your information
Relevant trustees and authorised team members may access information needed for their roles. Website hosting, email and IT service providers process information to operate these services. If an offer progresses, we may need to share necessary details with an agreed school, delivery provider or local coordinator; we will explain the arrangements before sharing information for that purpose. We do not sell personal information or publish donor contact details. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.
Work involving Ethiopia and international transfers
Our planned activities involve Ethiopia, but submitting an enquiry does not by itself authorise unrestricted sharing overseas. Before arranging access or transfers outside the UK, we will identify the recipient, purpose and relevant data-protection requirements, and put any required safeguards in place. Contact us for information about the recipients and safeguards relevant to your enquiry.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiries and equipment offers for as long as reasonably needed to answer them, assess the offer and complete agreed follow-up. The period depends on whether the enquiry remains active, whether a donation or partnership proceeds, and whether records are needed for accounting, safeguarding, a complaint or a legal obligation. We review records and delete or anonymise personal information when it is no longer needed. You can ask us about the retention of your particular enquiry.
Security and information you should not send
Access should be limited to those who need information for their work. Please do not send passwords, identity documents, bank details, health information or information about children through the general forms. Equipment photos should not contain people, documents, personal information or embedded location data. Before agreed equipment handover, securely erase data and remove account locks and device-management restrictions.
Cookies, links and spam prevention
WordPress uses cookies for authorised administrator login and site administration. Our equipment form currently uses a simple maths question to deter basic automated submissions. Links to external websites, including source documents, take you to services with their own privacy policies. This notice will be updated if we introduce additional services that change how visitor information is used.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you can ask to access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request portability where it applies. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. Contact info@liftupschools.org to exercise your rights. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. Requests are normally handled within one month; any permitted extension will be explained.
Questions and complaints
Please contact info@liftupschools.org first so we can address your concern. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
Updates
We will update this notice when our activities or information-handling arrangements change. Last updated: 24 October 2026.
