Education is strongest when students, teachers, schools and communities have the support they need. A project may focus on one area or connect several, depending on local priorities.
Learning, skills and opportunity
We support opportunities for children and young people to learn, develop skills and progress through education.
Support may include textbooks, learning materials, teaching aids, reading resources, science and practical learning resources, and appropriate digital tools.
Resources, training and development
Teachers are central to educational quality.
We may support teachers through teaching resources, subject-specific materials, professional development, training, ICT provision and support in using digital learning tools.
Safe, functional learning environments
Schools need appropriate conditions and resources to support effective teaching and learning.
Support may include furniture, blackboards, libraries, science facilities, ICT infrastructure, WASH facilities and other improvements to the learning environment.
Partnership, participation and ownership
Education is strengthened when families and communities are involved.
We encourage local involvement in identifying needs, community ownership of projects and collaboration between schools and the communities they serve.
Our work is needs-led
The right support starts with listening.
Not every school needs the same support. We begin by understanding the situation and identifying priorities. A project may focus on one area or bring several elements together where appropriate.
